Internet Of Things : Everything You Need To Know About It

Internet Of Things : Everything You Need To Know About It

What is Internet of Things?

Internet of Things is a concept where a large number of physical devices are connected with each other over the internet. They communicate with each other as well as share data. Today it is possible to turn anything and everything into an IoT network using wireless networks and cheap processors. This makes the devices digitally intelligent to act to scenarios without having to depend on human beings. The rise in IoT for businesses has opened way for offshore IoT app development services.

Show an example on IoT powered device

You can turn any device into an IoT powered one just by connecting it to internet and then controlling it. A motion sensor in your home or a light bulb which you can control using a smartphone can be considered as a device working on IoT. It can be anything like a toy or big machines. Above all that, now smart city concept is coming up which covers a whole area with sensors to understand and control the environment. When we use the term IoT, it is something related to a set of devices which are expected to communicate with other devices over internet without an human interference and so we don’t call PC an IoT device.

How big is Internet of Things?

Definitely the technology is big and it is getting bigger as the number of connected devices is more compared to people. It is expected that there will be 20.4 billion connected IoT devices by the end of 2020. Half of the IoT devices now used by consumers are smart speakers and smart TVs. In the enterprise level the IoT devices are available in the form of security cameras, smart electric meters and others.

What are the benefits of IoT for businesses?

IoT is much beneficial for businesses in a number of ways.

For businesses, IoT benefits are all linked to its implementation. The main thing to look for is that businesses should have access to large amount of data related to their internal system and their products or services. It should be able to offer the ability to make changes based on the results.

During industries are using IoT. They are installing sensors into their products to know how the product performs at the other end through collecting data back. This helps the companies to understand patterns and work sequence which can let them know when the product will fail and take steps accordingly to replace it before things go the other way. Companies can improve the efficiency of their supply chains and systems by the data generated from the users using sensors. As it transmits the customer experience directly, they are reliable.

IoT services at enterprise level can be divided into two categories. One that s specifically for the industries, and one which can be used for all industries. In the coming time, the three industries which will use the most of IoT are transportation, manufacturing and utilities. They will mainly try to improve the efficiency in asset tracking and processes.

Consumers are also getting the benefits of IoT in the form of smart homes, smart cars and smart offices. Sensors are now used to control the lights, speakers, doors as well as room temperature which make life easier. Home security has been turned smart which helps people to keep everything protected even when they are away from home.
